Obituary of Denise L. Higgins

Denise L. Higgins (Mackewicz), 50, Spring City Denise L. Higgins, 50, the wife of the late Brian Oplinger, Sr. died unexpectedly Thursday, January 25, 2018 at home. She was born in Pottstown to David and the late Virginia (Johnson) Mackewicz. A Pottstown High School graduate, Denise moved to Royersford and lived in the area for over 30 years. She recently retired from Graterford prison where she worked in the offices doing clerical duties. Denise was charismatic and had a love for people and family. She could capture the moment with her photography before using your phones was the "thing to do". Denise loved to read the Harlequin Romance novels, she had a big heart, forgiveness came easily to her. She enjoyed camping with family and friends. Denise was known for her hatred toward cooking. Denise leaves behind, husband: Dan Higgins, a sister: Debbie Schutz (wife of Rick) and David L. Mackewicz, Jr. (husband of Kristi); step sister: Veronica Brill and step brother: David R. Mackewicz, Jr.; three children: Brittany Oplinger (companion of Mike Fries), Brian Oplinger, Jr. (companion of Melissa Gallo) and Danny Higgins, Jr.; four grandchildren: Kaedyn Oplinger, Lennox Oplinger, MJ Fries and Myla Fries. Her sister, Darlene Hicks preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 2, 2018 in Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 135 Bridge Street, Spring City. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 am prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
